Visiting the Museum

Ladies and gentlemen,

 

With the aim of limiting the risk of infection and adjusting the sightseeing regulations to the generally applicable law regulations in the time of SARS-CoV-2 epidemic, we introduce specific sightseeing regulations:

1)      obligation to cover the mouth and nose;

2)      obligation to keep the distance at least 2 metres from each other;

3)      minors under 13 years of age cannot move around without adults;

4)      in the interiors of individual objects there can be only one sightseeing person, excluding eligible persons [see: The Regulations stating the specific rules of visiting the Museum of the Masovian Countryside in Sierpc – the open-air museum];

5)      before entering each object in which the exhibition is available, each person is obligated to use a hand sanitizer which is provided by the Museum;

6)      visitors are obligated to strict adhering to graphic and textual instructions, prohibitions and commands located within the open-air museum’s premises, including: information about direction of movement, enters and exits, keeping the distance, prohibition of touching exhibits and surfaces.

 

The museum exhibitions are made available, excluding the Sculpture gallery and the cottage from Drwały village. Until further notice, the possibility of visiting the open-air museum in organised groups is excluded as well as providing the following services is deferred: sightseeing with a guide and an audioguide, organising performances, presentations, demonstrations of farm activities, handicraft, educational services, organising open-air events, horse rides, or horse-drawn cart rides.

 

We recommend to sightsee the museum exhibitions with a “Guidebook” publication which can be a nice souvenir from staying in the Museum, and also, if it is possible, to use electronic forms of payment or online.

 

The Town Hall and the Museum of the Small Town in Bieżuń – the branch of the Museum of the Masovian Countryside in Sierpc are still closed until further notice.

 The Ethnographic Museum
It takes the area of over 60 ha of picturesquely located terrain on the River Sierpienica. It is situated in the administrative borders of Sierpc. The exhibition includes 10 peasant farmhouses (comprising residential and farm buildings) and an inn, smithy, windmill, chapel and church. In the ethnographic museum you can also visit interesting permanent exhibitions presented in the sculpture gallery (the collection of folk and monumental sculpture), coach house (the collection of courtly means of transport) and in the court (residential interiors from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century)

  • Drive to the ethnographic museum is possible from town (Narutowicza Street) and route No 10 (Warszawa – Bydgoszcz).
  • Entrance to the museum area is possible one hour before it is closed at the latest after buying the entrance ticket.
  • Visiting the ethnographic museum lasts about 3 hours.
  • An entrance ticket authorises to visit the exhibition and permanent displays.
  • Facilities are opened from April to the end of September. You can visit them individually or with a guide (having bought the guide’s service).
  • From October to the end of March visiting the interiors is only possible with a guide (1 guide for a number of 25 persons at most).
  • From November to the end of March the fee for a guide in Polish is decreased and amounts to 10 PLN. The guide goes out every 30 minutes, on full and half hours. The last exit at 2.00 p.m.
  • From November to the end of March one ticket office is opened (from Narutowicza Street).
  • On Mondays 10.00 – 2.00 the entrance to the ethnographic museum is free of charge without a possibility to visit the interiors.

The Town Hall
The place of temporary displays. Visiting is possible from Tuesday to Sunday within the town hall open hours:
Tuesday – Friday      8.00 – 4.00
Saturday – Sunday 10.00 – 6.00
On Mondays– closed
On Saturdays free of charge with a possibility of visiting exhibition, however, without a possibility to participate in educational forms, such as museum lessons or shows.

The Museum of the Small Town in Bieżuń– the branch of the Museum of the Mazovian Countryside in Sierpc
It is situated in an 18th-century building of a former hospital. At present, you can visit an office of a small town doctor, two residential interiors from the 19th century: a bedroom and
a living room and “Bieżuń and its inhabitants in the olden days” exhibition. In the Museum temporary displays are also presented.
Visiting is possible from Tuesday to Sunday within MMC open hours:
Tuesday – Friday      8.00 – 4.00
Saturday – Sunday 10.00 – 6.00
On Mondays the Museum is closed
On Fridays free of charge with a possibility to visit the exhibition, however, without
a possibility to participate in educational forms, such as museum lessons.

  • New Year’s Day
